Benefits Of An Essential Oil Diffuser- Fact Or Fiction?

So we’ve all heard it before, “oil diffusers are good for you”, “everyone should have one” yada yada. What are the benefits of an essential oil diffuser? Are essential oil diffusers actually beneficial? These are all questions you may have before you purchase one!

Now don’t get me wrong a quality essential oil diffuser will make a room smell great, that’s a fact. Although not everybody only looks into essential oil diffusers for making a room smell great, but because of the potential benefits the oils can bring and the actual diffuser itself can bring.

Today we’re going to take a look at some of the benefits of an essential oil diffuser and how you can use the benefits of certain oils to your advantage!

Dry Air? No Problem!

Now I don’t know where you guys live but I live in Michigan, and right now it’s basically one big ice tray. Gotta love winter! Cold air means the air is going to get a lot drier and we all know what happens after the air gets cold, our noses get drier (this can make us more prone to sinus infections), possible nose bleeds, dry skin, and much more. There’s really only one thing that can help negate these things which would be a humidifier.Anjou Humidifier

This leads me to my first benefits of an essential oil diffuser! Essential oil diffusers can act as humidifiers, whether you decide to put oil in your diffuser or not! This is one of the big reasons I love my essential oil diffuser so much because it helps to fight off not only a dry nose which can be really irritating sometimes but dry skin as well. This means it’ll help if you suffer from dry lips, hands or the most dreadful of all, dandruff!

I personally love my Anjou Essential Oil Diffuser, coming from someone who suffers from dry skin and dandruff, a quality essential oil diffuser is key and it works wonders for me!

Hard Time Concentrating?

To be able to concentrate and put your time into something you need to be able to foucs, and sometimes this can be difficult. This is where we get into the benefits of some of the different essential oils that can help you to put your focus where you need it.

There are many different essential oils that can help you to focus and truth be told, as I’m sitting here writing this I have my Anjou Essential Oil Diffuser next to me with an essential oil blend of the scents lemon and peppermint! I wouldn’t say I have the hardest time concentrating but in todays day in age where we all have cellphones that notify us of every little thing, so concentrating can be hard.

Using a blend of lemon and peppermint personally helps to keep me focused but you have possibly already tried those scents and they don’t work for you or you’re just looking for a few scents to start out on here are a few other essential oils I would highly recommend for concentration and focus-Lemon Essential Oil

Rosemary– Helps to reduce stress and anxiety, increase concentration

Lavender– Helps to improve focus, relieves anxiety and can help those with ADHD

Frankincense– Can help improve mental speed, improve focus and clarity

Sweet Orange– Helps to lift mood as well as improve clarity

Low Energy? Here’s A Boost!

Everyone suffers from low energy time to time, some of us more than others. Personally I tend to find myself having a hard time waking up in the morning and at that once I do finally get myself out of bed- staying awake. One of the things I do that actually helps significantly is the night prior to going to bed I’ll fill up my essential oil diffuser with my blend of essential oils that aid with an energy boost so that way when I wake up all I have to do is turn my essential oil diffuser on and within 10 minutes I start to feel a significant boost of energy. Most people like to say it’s pseudoscience but hey, if it works, it works, right?

There are a ton of different essential oils that can be used for an energy boost but some are better than other, to save you some trouble of having to search through a thousand different links online I’m going to list my top favorites that provide me an energy boost, that I personally use that you’ll be able to look up and make your own decision as to if you think it’ll be a good fit for you!

Grapefruit– Great for getting a kick start to your day, improve energy and mental clarity

Lemon/Lime– Love to mix with grapefruit, provides that extra “kick” in the morning, helps to improve cognitive speed!

Geranium– A beautiful scent that will help you to start your day and keep you going!

Unfortunately, there aren’t any “scientific” studies on essential oil diffusers and because you’re reading this I can only assume you’ve also read a few other peoples opinions on the benefits of an essential oil diffuser. While I may not have a degree for essential oil diffusers, I have been using them quite a long time, long enough to know that they work wonders for me, friends and family. If it weren’t for my essential oil diffuser I would still suffer from dry skin, dandruff and lack of concentration and energy, I still do from time to time with all of those but it has helped significantly and the difference in my mood because of it is outstanding! These are the reasons why I believe in the benefits of an essential oil diffuser!

If you have any questions or would love to let me know your personal experience with essential oil diffusers let me know in the comments!

Response to "Benefits Of An Essential Oil Diffuser- Fact Or Fiction?"

  • I had no idea that my essential oil diffuser would be such a help in the winter time. I have not used it for quite some time, just do not have anything to put in it. You have given me a lot of ideas to get it out of the box and use it. I only used it for the smell before, none of the other features were ever explained to me.
For a smaller room would you use just one ingredient or a combination to help with concentration.
    John

    • Hi John! I appreciate the comment! πŸ™‚ For a smaller room you could use either one or a blend of multiple essential oils! If you are just using 1 essential oil I would recommend adding 4-5 drops and if you are using multiple lets say a variant of 2- try adding 3 drops of one and 2 drops of the other! Hope this helps! πŸ™‚

  • I just bought a kit from doTerra with different essential oils but at the moment I’m applying a little bit on my face or forehead when I have a headache. And I absolutely love them πŸ˜€ when I have difficulties sleeping I’m applying a couple of drops in my forehead and under the nose and I get so relaxed and then I go to sleep easier. I also prepared a combination of oils with coconut oil and apply on my chest, legs and arms. As you can see, I’m a fan of oils. I haven’t purchase any oil diffusers yet, any brand in particular that you recommend? Or do they need any specific functionalities? I would like one with a lamp as well or some sort of light but something soft that I can use at nights. Thanks for sharing the benefits and uses of some of the oils, I wasn’t sure about it, I’ve been applying without much knowledge.

    • Thanks for the comment Thais! πŸ™‚ Essential oils are amazing and provide a lot more than most people expect! If you are searching for an oil diffuser I would highly recommend the one I just recently reviewed in my essential oil diffuser product review section! It has all that you stated you are looking for and is the one I personally use throughout my apartment at the moment! Hope this helps πŸ™‚

  • I’ve been working on my website all afternoon and just realized I haven’t used my diffuser in weeks. Thanks for reminding me! I’ll have to get the lemon oil like you suggested but I do have the orange..and peppermint for concentration! I didn’t even think about its usefulness as a humidifier-cool! I got my brother a diffuser for Christmas and he loves it. I’ll have to send him this way for your recommendations-thanks!

    • I appreciate it Jennifer! πŸ™‚ You will definitely have to break your diffuser back out! I love the orange and peppermint as well, helps for complete concentration! Essential oil diffusers are an amazing gift and I’m happy your brother loves his! πŸ™‚

  • Good article! You have a great review of Essential Oil Diffuser, I want to know what is it feels like when you smear on your body, is it so cool or is it just like other Essential Oil, and how many I smear every time?

    • Hi SkyPath, thanks for the comment! If by smear you mean rub, well it usually depends on the oil. Most oils will feel the same being rubbed into your skin but most will have a different effect on you (calmness, focus, wakefulness). You can rub essential oils in a few times a day you just don’t want to go overboard! Hope this helps! πŸ™‚

  • Great read and I totally agree on what essential oils really can do for you! I love them! One of my favorite scents is coconut. It makes me feel like I’m in a more tropical climate which is a necessity with this polar eclipse we are dealing with, as I would call it… no sun and lots of snow. Helps with the depressing side of winter. Thanks for addressing the dry factor as well. Really does help!

    • Coconut sounds like a great scent for the harsh winter times! Snow can be brutal, it’s a good thing we have essential oil diffusers to help remind us of the warmer times! πŸ™‚
